Trying to lay low.....

When they tell you after a c-section not to lift anything heavier than the baby and to take it easy, I guess they really mean don't lift anything heavier than your baby and to take it easy. Medical personnel are so literal! So I guess vacuuming, doing laundry, running errands,  and carrying the baby in the carseat with a full diaper bag would be NOT following that recommendation. Oh, you should have seen the look on my doctors face today when I told him I was vacuuming this morning. Yes, that would be my doctor who was on call today and met us at the office since my incision burst open on one side this afternoon. Nothing like a little blood, pus, irrigation and packing of a wound to make you WANT to listen to those recommendations afterall. : ) That said, I am fine, on oral antibiotics and strictly following doctors orders! So what does that mean for a Mom of three?

It means craft time!
Making necklaces that ultimately end up in the trash later that day are beautiful and treasured by the kids and I for years to come.

Making works of art out of clay. That would be a shell bowl by me, a volcano with sharks teeth by Conner and a heart shape with "Maylin" scrawled on it by Alaina.

Game time! Where competitive spirits and diva like behavior create lots of noise which prompts the littlest Sandberg to:

Cover his ears and suck on his pacifier at 167 mph.

Amidst what feels like milling around and trying to find something (anything!) for the kids to do, breaking up petty arguments, keeping the house from being demolished, doling out endless snacks and refereeing wrestling matches.....there are also sweet moments like this.

Zane was fussing and both kids immediately run over to grab a hand, and yes, Zane quieted immediately. Amazing how poweful touch is to a baby. : ) I am so blessed to have two older children that possess a nurturing spirit and compassion for their newborn brother. He is so small but he will always have big hands to hold whenever he needs it.
